Medium spreading shrub with smooth branchlets and long narrow needle-like phyllodes and short sprays of yellow globular flower heads on short stalks at the ends of the branches. Prefers well-drained soils. Frost and drought hardy. Windbreaks, understorey plant, specimen, filler between large shrubs. Attracts bees.

Attractive spreading shrub with narrow dark foliage and and very large orange brushes with dark purple styles.  The brushes turn into large woody seed cones which persist on the shrub. Frost and drought hardy and suited to a variety of soil types but requires a reasonable amount of drainage.  Suited to all gardens as a background or understorey shrub.
